Looking for opinions: vendor: Looking Glass Orchids

I found the above vendor while doing a search for a particular Cattleya hybrid.

The vendor seems to have a nice selection, does not list prices online. Anyone here ever do business with them?

I recommend it. The owner, Russ, is great. If I recall correctly, he worked for Owens orchids for many years, then once Owens shut down, Russ opened his own business up next door. So, he's got a lot of experience in the business and has a great reputation.

I've picked up many wonderful pants from Looking Glass. Everything has been correctly ID'd, prices were great, and the plants were all healthy. For the size of the plants and the quality, the prices are also really good. Some things are better deals than others obviously, but I've gotten some real bargains.

Honestly, if you're in Northern GA and have the opportunity, it's probably not too far of a drive and well worth it IMO. He also goes to orchid shows in the area, such as places like Asheville and Atlanta. If you decide to visit the greenhouse, I recommend calling ahead of time to make sure it's open, I seem to remember that it's closed certain days of the week and whenever the owner is away at shows.

I wish I'd come across the website for Looking Glass Orchids a couple days ago, I was within 30 miles of the place, didn't know it was there!

I'm glad to hear that this is a good vendor. I may not be able to visit them before I place an order, but hope that I can visit in the future.

I'm looking hard at some of the Cattleyas, but good to know there are multiple favorable opinions
