Default I was going to ask if I was giving my vada's what they need and Hey a spike.

the first one we got we did not soak it and it lost most of the roots then it got overwatered. the second a blue one from orcid.com was in bad shape split leaves brown ends and rotten roots. but it made a comeback. I learned about the vase method here though I was only soaking a hour twice a week. they are doing much better being soaked overnight twice a week. I saw rapid growth and the spike just popped out of nowhere. right now they are getting a tablespoon of food once a week on the overnight soak. I was not sure if they were getting enough light in a SE window but we have enough clouds and such in portland region I gave them a light.

ok got the first bloom. but I think normans orchids as usual messed up this is supposed to be a Sansai Blue 'Thai Sky but it sure is not blue according to their picture. not complaining it is a really nice flower and the first time we have a vanda flower.

Whether it is what it is supposed to be I don't know, but it is a "blue" or rather "coerulea" Vanda. The saturation of color may vary, and it's a tricky color to capture in a photo, depending on the light.

with normans orchids it is dicy. the poor thing had written roots from overwatering bad leaves with brown ends. took awhile to recover. but the picture is close the actual color. it is a great color I can't complain.
