Remember, this plant is half Rhynchostylis (which doesn't need as much light as a Vanda) and the other half is V. coerulescens, which is also is happy with a little less light than its larger relatives. So once it's ready to move outside, "dappled sunlight" should be sufficient.

ES, you know I live in the.midwest. We got 47% of the available sun last month. Sunburn is not generally a problem in winter. 😀

Precisely... you will get lots of advice about the sun that Vandas need.... this one not so much, which works in your favor... Probably doesn't need that much more than a Phal though it might like more, it will be fine with Midwest light. And probably love the extra hours you get in the summer.

V. coerulescens always bloomed faithfully every year for me when treated like the Cattleyas. It is extremely easy, stays rather small for a Vanda, is tolerant of cooler temperatures as well as very hot temperatures and is not too fussy about watering. I would still have it but for the dog (I actually have a nice picture of the dog with the orchid about three years before she tore it into little bits).

I have no idea what the other parent does to the cross as I have never grown it. Good luck with the new orchid.

Nice! That certainly looks like a healthy plant, roots for days. The sheet moss adds a nice touch, I’ve not used that before. I think I will need a bigger basket for my ‘Bluebird’ the 4” is awfully small for this one. It looks great!
