Smile Rescued a Princess!!

Hi everyone!

This morning, I had to go to Lowes to pick up a air filter for the a/c unit and I happened to go through the garden department and they had a Princess Mikasa 'Pink' on discount. They had it at originally 49.00 but since the bloom just about finished, I picked it up for $15.00....a real steal. It was growing in an 8" basket that had a 4" basket barely in it. I took it out of the 8" basket and placed it in a 6" basket. They barely had the 4" basket tied to the bottom with a piece of wire. That is probably why the plant started losing roots due to the little basket moved all over the bottom. The plant looks really good, just have to get the roots going again....KLN to the rescue!!

Wally

Tindo - mine NEVER have good ones. Never never. They have Phals and most often they aren't labeled. I got my neat huge Dend. - oh nevermind - that was Lowe's. Anyway, I am INSANELY jealous over people finding Vanda's at their home improvement stores!! I am just DYING to place my Oak Hill order hehe!!

Come to think of it, my Home Depots also only have Dends, Oncidiums, or Phals.

Congrats Wally, I'm sure she's found a good home!
My HD usually has the same old phals, dens, an occasional onc...but a few weeks ago, I walked in and there was a big gorgeous Aliceara sitting there calling my name! I couldn't believe what I was looking at! The one and only reason I didn't buy it is that I have one growing a spike (not the exact same variety) and want to see that bloom before buying another

I saw those Vandas at my Lowe's yesterday, but they are still $49. I'll have to keep my eyes on them, and see if they too eventually get marked down to $15!

Yes, when the blooms die down and all there is just the plant, they usually discount them then. I guess they don't want to keep that green thing on the shelves for long.
