Last year a local garden centre wrote, informing me that there was an "orchid extravaganza". I went along and as well as the usual phalaenopsis and oncidiums they had a few vandas. Most were the typical blue or pink pachara type, but I spotted this one, I'm not a fan of yellow blooms but I like this colour combo.

Grown in a vase, south facing window, watered twice a week, fed every 14 days. It has only bloomed once this year which is the only disappointment.

Four years on, this plant is a regular bloomer. This time it has a fragrance for the first time, conditions are the same so I'm not sure what has triggered it. The fragrance is of mothballs, which at first I searched the room looking to find what was causing the smell.
