Sorry, that's sad. I don't know what happened. I suspect cold had a lot to do with it.
How about trying again when it's a little warmer with a less expensive plant?

That's such a shame. Why not try vase culture with your next one? That's how I grow all of mine indoors, it's a little easier to control humidity and watering and also makes the plant a lot easier to handle.
