Vanda Robert's Delight violet black in bloom
This is such a pretty plant. Grew a spike in water culture, getting western light. I think the total count was 9 buds and no bud blast.

Thank you both! When I saw photos of the blooms I knew I had to have it. Very eye-catching. Its a very symmetrical and pretty specimen.

Your vanda is gorgeous, love the roots and flowers. I think i have a vanda like that its been almost a year of having it but it hasn't bloomed as yet, just keeps growing roots and new leaves.

do you empty the vase sometimes and let it dry a little bit or the plant sits in water partially like that all the time?

Good question, but was too afraid to ask.

This one sits in water all the time. I do change the water though and give the roots a rinse. I sometimes mist the roots that are above water when I feel like it. My other large Vanda though sits in clay pellets with some water, it has no roots due to some infection it came with. My seedlings (sanderiana + a pachara delight) sit in water all the time too.

I hope it will spike for you soon! Maybe a change of location might help, more light perhaps?
