I missed this one, was posted when I was away in February

Mauro, it is absolutely stunning! Mine bloomed today and once again, the color is not as intense as yours although I love them both

How could there be such a difference within a species? Cultural differences?

I don't believe, Susanne. Cultural differences can sometimes affect the color of the flowers, but it is not something so common. Rhychostylis coelestis is known for its very variable flowers ranging from very pale lavender to deep violet, more or less like mine. For me, those having the color of the sky, like yours, are the most desirable. BTW, congrats on your flowers. It seems that you have at least two spikes! Very good!!

I told myself, no more large plants. Seeing that one makes me want to forget I said that.
