What is a Mokara hybrid?
I am so excited about my new purchase, I must tell you all about it. I ordered an orchid from Lowe's Orchids in Hawaii on Monday and got it today (Thurs). It is a Mokara hybrid red and was on the "sale table" for $10. So I took a chance. $12 shipping. It is in great shape. Roots perfect, very little trimming required and has a little nub (too soon to see for sure, but hopefully it is a bloom spike). It looks like a very compact Vanda, not like anything I have. I can't wait to see the flowers! I am very happy with my first purchase from Lowe's Orchids! Does anyone know what a Mokara hybrid is?

A Mokara is a crossing of Arachnis, Vanda & Ascocentrum.
They are generally used for 'cut flower' but some are brilliantly colored. Flowers are very open, spidery type, the plants grow in high light and can be used for hedges when plants mature.

Wow! Thanks Roy and Dorothy for the info. It should do well down here. I do have a bloom spike. I wonder which of those flower variations I will get!

Keep an eye on the spike and try to keep it going straight up, it will look even better.
