The first plants to make it to market were very pale, sorta white flowers with a little pink picotee. In recent years the plants have become much better colored.
As a first bloom seedling it had 2 spikes, the 2nd year it produced 3 and this year it managed 6 spikes. Being a species, it only blooms once a year, but that trait is often lost in hybrids (mature plants), so it still has potential in breeding.
I have attached a photo taken back in 2007 to illustrate the difference.
