Default Vandas in Baskets

So I found these baskets at HD in the fountains area, but they were labeled as 'planters' and the aeration seemed perfect so I got them for the Vandas.

I first soaked the roots to make them pliable and put them in with some bark and sphagnum moss.

The Pakchong Blue was in spike but that immediately dried up the next day. But I wanted to get that done because this way I figure I won't have the urgency to water them so often as the moss should retain some moisture for them.

At times when I have doctors appointments which can be lengthy, I am unable to water them as they need, so I hope they like it.

I'm watching closely for signs of rejection in them, but hopefully they will be content there.

Whadaya think guys? Any experiences/thoughts with this type plastic basket?

I have my V. tricolor in that same container with a mix of about 30% sphag moss and 70% bark. The medium dries out about every 3-5 days depending on temperature and humidity in my environment.

When I first put the plant into this set up, it took like a month or two to get use to it. Then it started putting out a lot of roots off the existing ones.

One thing I would watch out for is to make sure the medium in the middle of the container is dry before watering again. The mix on the sides dry out a lot quicker.
