My Vanda ' s problem with roots
Default My Vanda ' s problem with roots

Hello , I am just beginner with Vanda as got her August last year , she looks very nice tho I have some problems with her and have no idea what I am doing wrong. Problem is with her roots and some leaves. Roots started to get very dark and on some leaves dark spots and yellowish collor on bottom leaf. Roots - is it kind of infection? too little / too much water? Leaves - maybe water got inside this lowest one and started to rot? I attached some photos for u to check it and would be very gratefull for your advices. I live in Florida , Vanda is outside in shadow all the time hanging. Thank You so much in advance.

I'm no expert but to me it looks like not watered enough. Hopefully someone with more experience chimes in.

Welcome to the board.

I have a lot of Vanda type orchids, the leaf yellowing looks normal to me and the roots probably aren't getting enough water.
You can soak ur vanda for hours and hours a day.It might have great benefits for you.
good luck

Welcome to the Orchid Board! A lot of people in Florida grow beautiful Vandas, and you will, too.

Yes, not enough water. I don't live in Florida, but I have read people there need to water them every day, and twice per day when it is hot. I also read they like 60%-70% full sun (or 30%-40% shade.) If you are growing in full shade it won't bloom. They also need a lot of fertilizer. Don't move to sun suddenly or it might burn, like a person who saw no sun all winter.
