Ascocentrum Mona Church, from BS to Mature
= Ascocentrum ampullaceum x Ascocentrum miniatum. In this case bred with a Chinese ampullaceum (orange). This plant is in a 4" Vanda basket; it illustrates the progression from barely BS (blooming size) to Mature:
2013: First bloom on a large seedling, a very short spike with 10-12 buds. The tip of the spike blasted.
2014: The spike is somewhat longer (photo taken after it got beat up in transport to NJOS meeting).
2015: The spikes are now large in proportion to the plant.
It bloomed in April, and again in August.
The plant has started two basal keikis.

Very nice, it's also good to see the progression of the plant in the last three years. This is a really good example of how a plant as it matures produces more and usually better quality blooms, which can oft be wrongly attributed to giving more fertilizer, changing the fertilizer or praying to the flower gods!
