I've only had this about 8 weeks. I can see that it's the first spike it's ever had. i would've liked more branching off the main spike I suppose but other than that it's okay. Hopefully second spiking will be more showy.
Really nice job!! I have a few renanthera/crosses/etc. but have yet to see any fruits of my labors. Not sure if the light/water/fert./general disposition/etc. is right or a combo. of all. Still hoping! That's what makes it so fun!

What sort of culture do you give this one? I have one that is huge; about 5 feet tall that has yet to spike. How large a plant is yours?
it's about 2.5, maybe 3 feet tall not including roots.
Media free in a small vanda square pot. It hangs on the very edge of my vanda house so full sun right up until mid day. After that very bright light but no longer direct. My leaves are walking the fine line of almost too much sun.
Watered heavily every morning and on hot days second watering. Fertiliser twice a week at half strength.
My vendor where I got if from also had no luck in getting any of the other Lions splendor to flower either but has no problems with any others.
I think that this cross may require a very high light source short of burn to flower.
Hmm. I have been told by many growers that these need to get to a pretty good size before they start flowering. Because of one of the parents of this hybrid. I have good growth and very high light all day on a 50% shade house, so I guess it's just a matter of time and or will be a great showing.
