Default Rhy. gigantea var alba x Rhy gigantea 'panda' - newbie chid on the block

I just got this Rhy. gigantea 4 days ago

Im planning to keep on a west facing balcony that gets about 2 hours morning sun (from about 8 to 10) and then sun from about 2pm to sundown.

I also keep my vandas out here

The first flower just opened this morning and is already fragrant

Last night

This morning

Beautiful. What media are you growing it in? Think I see some charcoal in the mix?

Thanks ! Yep .... its medium sized looks like river stone and charcoal about a 70:30 ratio. I haven't had a good look at the composition of the media yet.

After the blooms finish I may repot with some coconut husk chunks added that mix seems to work for me since I normally dont get to water as I would like

Hey SIMJAM, If I were you I wouldn't repot it I would leave it in the charcoal and river stone media for another year or so.

Hi Dillon123 you have one right? Im tempted to leave it be as you have suggested. I got a good look at him and he seems happy with some really fat growing roots. Thanks for the advice.

Now that my plant is in full bloom and fragrance, I want to take it inside to enjoy the scent ... but there is nowhere inside that gets direct sun at this time of the year, I have bright north and west windows though.

will I harm the plant if I take it inside for a couple weeks in a less than ideal location ?

It won't but you might get bud blast and blooms won't last as long.
