This species if normally found from sealevel to 700m in deciduous or semi-deciduous forests. It is relatively widespread, being native to Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Bornea, the Pillippines, Thailand and a few other regional countries. It was purchased as one of my first 5 orchids and blooms every year in December and January.

And Susanne, you're not alone. Mine has two spikes that are growing at a snail's pace. I'm just glad that this species flowers during the winter. If its spikes grew this slowly during the warmer months of the year, I think it would probably be tempting every insect in my backyard to swing by for a nice salad!

Thanks you two. I like how they flower in the winter too. I have several of these but only this spot and the alba are mature. My red and peach and the others are still babies or NBS.

Makes the greenhouse smell wonderful at night and when I open the doors in the day,,,the bugs DO have a heyday,,,,lol.
