This is from one of the Vandas that is recovering. Does it in anyway look like a flower spike? Or it is a big, fat root? I've seen vanda roots and they look thinner than this monster.

I'll be super excited if it is a flower spike. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Sorry, but that is a new root. A nice, big fat one. The flower spike will appear above the base of a leaf

Ah! I thought so. Still, can hope. This monster root is growing exceptionally well and the Vanda is doing well I trust. I've seen flower spike images now. Hoping for the best in the future!

Good luck! Vandas are so rewarding when they bloom. I got a red vasco for my birthday 2 years ago and every time it has formed spikes, something has happened to them. Earwigs got them last time.

Thank you. The plant is healthy so some day I expect bright red, waxy flowers. It should bloom a few times a year.
