Vanda - Care? Male
Default Vanda - Care?

I love these Orchids, I have several this one has roots reaching almost 8 feet and the plant itself is 3+ feet. I need to find out what to do about the roots, as they are almost at the point if I need to hang the plant any higher I'll need to rent a climber just to get up in the tree.

Wow, they are gorgeous! I assume the plant is pretty heavy, depending on the weight, my husband has given me PVC pipes to use to get some of my plants in and out of trees during the summer. PVC pipes come in all different lengths and thicknesses so they can support a decent amount of weight without bending.

Good luck! And fantastic growing!

It doesn't hurt the plant to trim some of the roots. I've done it several times with my vandas.

I'd never trim the roots.
You'd be better off maybe placing an empty terracotta pot below to contain them, or put some pebbles in the pot
