Default Ascochilus nitidus

Ascochilus nitidus - cute miniature from Thailand, grown year round outside in Florida, bright shade, mounted on cork, regular watering and fertilizing. The spikes take some time to grow and bud, this is first open bloom from 3 spikes that started some 3 months ago.

Looks sprinkled with sugar cute! It seems from the pix that the uppermost section of spike is green and plump but the bottom is thin and brown-is that what I'm seeing?

Thanks Dea, and yes, the old bottom part is dark brownish color when the tip with buds is nice green on all 3 spikes. The buds are just starting to open. It took really a looooooong time from the first signs of the spikes to this first bloom :-)
