Thank you all for the kind words!
Steve, unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to smell the flowers. When we brought my plants in my husband put my suavis a bit too close to the heater. The plant wasn't damaged and has since been located to it's normal spot, but I lost the entire spike and all the flowers. The flowers had just opened, so I am thankful I got a picture. It also looks like there's the start of another spike, fingers crossed!
Oscarman, in the summer my plants are all moved outdoors. In the winter, I grow in a solarium. I get all light with the exception of eastern. I keep humidity above 60%, but it really varies depending on the weather outside, on snowy or rainy days humidity is 95-100%. I keep two fans running for air movement. As for temperature, it's really dependent on how harsh the weather outside is. Last year, since it was ridiculously cold, many nights I had to let it go down to 45 with only reaching about 65 during the day, but the heating costs were just so brutal I couldn't bring up the temps anymore without putting a serious dent in my pocketbook. I didn't loose any plants or get cold damage and everything still flowered for me this summer. I think the natural light helps to offset my cooler temps, so my plants don't hold grudges. This year, I'm hoping to keep it at a minimum of 50 at night and 70 during the day, but we'll see what Mother Nature has to say about that. We were going to put a mini split to save on heating costs, but my husband's appendix burst and he wasn't able to get in installed before we had to move my plants in.
And that concludes my novel.
