Fantastic Sansai blue , I got one back in April and was amazed at how big the flower head gets , but after it had flowered i made the mistake and placed it in my small greenhouse and next day , somehow the door was left open and got a direct blast of sunshine ,most of the leaves turned white , I had to trim alot of it to prevent issues , or disease ,Hope it returns someday .

Thanks Steve. I sure hope yours bounces back. I bet it will. Mine was quite a desiccated plant with few good roots when I got it but after using seaweed occasionally when I soaked the roots and doing my best to care for it, it bloomed about 6 months later. It tried a month earlier but that tiny spike stalled and died. Then a month later it produced 7 blooms (that was last year) And now 9 blooms so I am very happy with it.

Wow. Very nice. Blue is my favorite color.
I got one of these from Lowe's last year. It hasn't grown very well. Hopefully next year it'll bloom.

Thanks RosieC and brsucculents.
It would be nice to be able to get some interesting orchids at our box stores. But we would never have a Vanda or a Cattleya. Just the odd very expensive Onc. at HD and then Phals.

Gorgeous! I know a grower in Ontario who has this one and he says that it can bloom 3 to 5 times a year. I have been considering getting one. If only I had a place to put it!

Thanks.
I grow mine in a large plastic net pot or basket that I got at a hydroponics store. So it is sort of like a potted plant. Then I can move it to a pail to soak the roots or run them under the tap.
Mine may never bloom multiple times a year since it has to endure cool temps and less light in the winter. But the long bloom time is good enough for me if it even blooms once a year, as it has done so far.

I believe this is a poor clone, just like mine (blooms once a year only too).
Sansai blue has been overcloned.
If you do a search on Sansai Blue here, there are several members whose Sansai Blues bloom 3-4x a year.
