After Paphs, my favorite genus. I think that I have all major color variations of all 3 species, except for retusa alba. Currently in bloom is coelestis, pink form:

Another lovely plant Fairorchids. With you on the East and Hawaiian Sunshine on the West side of the USA, I am fortunate to see how successful folk like you grow orchids! This is in your greenhouse?

I enjoy the genus Rynchostylis but sadly struggle with them, not enough humidity.
Thank you for sharing.

Matt,

Yes, it is grown in the greenhouse.

Orchidgirl83,

It is growing in a 6" octagonal basket, so it is not a small plant, but it is not overly large either. Plant is probably close to 12" across (which is nothing compared to my Rhy giganteas, some of which are 24-30" across).

Whoa! Your coelestis are so big & healthy and the spikes & flowers and so beautiful. Mine doesn't bloom this year. When it bloomed last year, the spikes were much smaller!!!

Well done.

Hi there, lovely plant!! I struggle with this genus. I have a cross (retusa x coelestis) and it is very reluctant to bloom. Seems like it doesn't like the cold. And for more punishment I bought a Rhynchostylis coelestis, now growing outdoors.
My question is how cold does your greenhouse get in the winter?
Our outdoor nights can get down to 50F. But days, even in the middle of winter, are usually in the low 70s. You think this is too cold for them?

Thanks
Andrew

Beautiful! I don't have any but I do have a rhynchorides. It hasn't bloomed yet though, it's only a couple of years old. I love rhynchostylis.
