Vanda in a Vase

You know, what's funny, I thought my pink might be pincess mikasa because I have seen many of them, and at one point, I had a white one, which is very pretty. I remember the flowers on ascda princess mikasa are all smaller than large standard vanda flowers.

My pink looks a lot like princess mikasa but the flowers are huge!
The plant is rather big as well. Each leaf is about 10 in length.
My other one, the blue one, is much smaller with each leaf less than 8 in.

Whatever these are, they are very very pretty.

Both of them are Vanda Pachara Delight. One is blue and the other one a pink variation.
After the blooms are gone you put a bamboo to wedge the basket at the rim and let the roots be elevated so you can put some water at the bottom for added moisture while it is gathering energy to produce the next spike.
Read on vase culture.
Vandas thrive indoors in winter in a vase put in a south facing window=then in the warmer months put them outside since your environment have high humidity, flowing air and warmth.

Great new plants!!! I love tessellated vandas!!! I think these are the plants that you tell me in my post "Vanda season is here". As the posts above, indeed just the roots inside the vase. Keep leaves growing freely. And enjoy them!!!

I bought an absolutely BEAUTIFUL vanda in a vase at my local Publix supermarket. The flower was not flat like vandas I've usually seen. I wrote the grower in Homestead praising their beautiful plant, described the bloom and asked the name of the plant. Nada--no response. I was very disappointed as I would have really liked to have known what I have.
The blooms are gone now, but they were white with the faintest lilac lines/grid throughout the pedals--I mean faint. With a lilac tongue. The flowers were shaped more like single butterfly ginger flower, if you can picture that. It bent/curled forward and was just exquisite. The plant itself is HUGE. The roots are coming to the top, so there is no way to get all of them in the water twice a week. I'm going to have to try that fertilizer every other week (what a novel idea!)

I tried to contact them but the website provides no number but an email address. I wrote them to but never heard back from them. I guess they are too busy in the greenhouse(s). lol

By the way, I think I saw the same vanda that you described.
It was the largest plant of the vandas at HD that day when I bought my two vandas.
The flowers were rather smallish but very exotic. The petals were a bit frilly along the edge I think.

My vandas are still alive and growing leaves.
no signs of spiking again but that would be welcome any time.
