New Vanda Sunanda Moonlight Blue
Friday I bought me this new Vanda. It's huge, with very big blooms. The real color is more blue, but not a real blue. Hope you like it.

I do! Very lovely! I've seen talk about "vase culture" on here, but I have no idea how it works. It looks like a very beautiful way to grow these plants though.

I only have them in a vase while in bloom, because it's easier than hanging them. For watering I take them out of the vase and soak them in a bucket or the bathtub. Some people just fill the vase halfway with water and after a while empty it again. I tried to do it this way as well yesterday, but the vase is so big and thick that is was quite heavy to carry to the sink and my partner had to hold the plant while I poured the water out of it. I think it's easier to take the plant out, soak it in a bucket, hang it outside to let it drip and then putting it back into the vase.

That makes a lot of sense actually. It looks like a very large plant. I wish that I had space to grow vandas, but I just don't. I'll have to admire yours until I do.
Thank you for sharing yours!

Thank you. Sorry you don't have space to grow them. They're so beautiful.

No need to apologize! I have plenty of wonderful orchids, I just have to keep the size a bit... smaller.
At least, that's what I tell myself... then I go and buy oncidiums. LOL!

Thanks Silken. It was the combination of the two (color and spots) that made me buy it.
