Flower shop find! Male
Default Flower shop find!

I found this beauty at a flower shop in the hospital where i work at. This is the first time iv'e seen them have a vanda in a vase and I just had to take her home. I'm not usually a fan of pinks but the color on this plant just jumps out and hypnotize you! There's no tag unfortunately but I'm guessing it's an Ascocenda princess mikasa 'pink charm' it has more of a raspberry color to it.

Lovely flower....you must have an advanced modern flower shop in your Hospital....

I think this is more of a Vanda Pachara Delight 'Pink'....my plant recently rebloomed.

this is a very smart way of presenting it in 'vase culture' ....you may want to hang it outdoors in the warmer months and then put it in vase culture again in the winter.

yea I was thinking of hanging it outside my fire escape next month or when it gets warmer. Will the roots feel disturbed when i do that?
bud, i just googled pachara delight 'pink' and i came across your thread awhile back. it does look very similar if not exactly the same cause i took a picture earlier on a bright light and the pink was washed out like yours but you can see the tesselation very clearly. The other thing that made me think that it is an ascda is because it is a small plant and it is the second blooming. the first time it bloomed was when it was only 5" tall!

Ascocenda Princess Mikasa 'Pink' also has tessellation but is a little darker pink. That was my first thought when I saw it. And it is on my wish list!
Great find!!

I see vandas in glass like that sold at Whole Foods some times. Not often.
They charge $59 if I remember correctly. The flowers were all half dead. If I saw one looking so fresh like your, I would buy it any day! lol

How much was yours? just so I can compare the price.

I have never seen them at my local wholefoods but I would def buy one too if i saw one! I paid a little extra for this. Even though I wanted it so bad, I was having second thoughts cause it was $75! I had to pass by it everyday at work when i get my lunch and after the fourth day, I decided to take her home instead of staring at it everyday lol!

yea I think so too but it is still hard to compare with all the pink hybrids but it flowered at a very small size so that made me think that it is an ascocenda. It's the very hot pink that caught my eye when it was displayed in the flower shop.

Very pretty! I agree, it could be Ascda. Princess Mikasa. There are several pink versions. I have Ascda. Princess Mikasa 'Rosada', that looks a lot like yours. In any case it's a beautiful color.
