Default My Sedirea Japonica is being stubborn.

Does anyone know if there is a trick to blooming this one I'm giving it all the recommended conditions; nearly cattleya light, high humidity and it is mounted and gets watered often. The only thing I do not give it is a cooler winter. My orchid tank is always on the warm side ie 85 F year round. I suppose my question is if this guy will still bloom given the warmer conditions year round. If not then I'm thinking about making this one a flunky. Some orchids just don't deserve my precious little amount of grow space

On a bright note it has grown a huge new leaf and three new roots this year which is a positive sign.

Also it is important to note that it has bloomed previously. I see a dried up old spike at the leaf axis.

From my own experience they do like to be cool and drier part of the year. My first plant died very suddenly after a few years of not giving it a winter rest. It was blooming for me twice a year. I would let it get down to the 40s and 50s at night. I am being more careful with my two current forms.

So I have never bloomed a sed either BUT I can tell you now that I have my standard sed on a kool log and have every intention of hanging that thing in my solar in the next few weeks to try to really cool it down and keep it on the dry side. Those who have bloomed this plant have all reported it's spikes when given this treatment.
