Susanne, your plant is healthy and hence there are so many spikes this year.
The species is also found on an islet in Taiwan, and the wild plants still grow happily on ficus trees.
Here show the species in situ and its habitat.

Hi and welcome to Orchidboard!

This plant is one of my favorites but be forewarned...it takes a v-e-r-y long time to get from the spike stage to the bloom stage! Try not to look at it everyday...you'll drive yourself crazy!

We'd love to hear more from you about what you are growing...and how If you feel like it, we have a forum for new friends to tell us a bit about themselves...look for the forum entitled Introductions- Break The Ice
