Default Intergeneric Hybrids - Part I

I started with full size Vandas, but quickly ran out of room. So, for the last many years I have been collecting interesting smaller hybrids in this category.

I still have a few larger plants, such as ASCDA Avocado Honey, which contains less than 4% Ascocentrum. Flowers are a good 4" across.

A much more managable plant is Renanetia Sunrise 'Prasong' HCC/AOS (Ren imschootiana x Neofinetia falcata). This plant does well in a 4" basket and is easy to bloom.

The most recent acquisition is Seidenanda Teddy Bear (Seidenfadenia mitrata x Vanda lamellata). It is a slender plant with semi-terete leaves; total spread about 12", but it will fit into a 5" pot/basket. Only had one unblemished flower after a trip through USPS handling, but it was enough for a photo.

I like the cross, Seidenanda Teddy Bear. It is interesting that this cross was registered by a nursery from Taiwan. But it has been seldom seen or sold here.

I am pretty much in the same boat, having run out of room and was forced to give most of my large vandas to a relative. At least that way I can see them when they bloom. I'm slowly replacing them with smaller growing versions.
