My Vanda Noid is in double spike!! Female
Default My Vanda Noid is in double spike!!

I am so happy I tried Vandas this year. I got this plant in flower in October. It is now in double spike. It only rested a few weeks before putting out a spike. Now it has put out another! The spikes on this get pretty long with lots of flowers. I am not sure if it is a Vascostylis or Ascocenda or how to know. It is my first one to spike under my care

Really? I always thought that vascostylis differed from vandachostylis?

vascostylis being Ascocentrum × Rhynchostylis × Vanda

vandachostylis being Rhynchostylis × Vanda

So how long since this was changed? I only ask as i know of a few vendors who still sell plants labelled vascostylis. I guess i have to write some new tags as well!!

They changed this late last year. But many vendors haven't bothered to change the names because they probably have them printed already....in time though; even r orchids has acknowledged the change even though they admitted the tags would not show this until they slowly change them out.
