Vanda tricolor no spikes

I agree with previous comments. This plant is large enough to initiate spikes. If it is a Vanda tricolor a bit more cooler conditions in winter would help to bloom.
In my opinion, there is another factor who shouldn't be forgotten : among a same species some plants are floriferous while some are not. For example, I have a Vanda limbata who is blooming often, while another plant that I grow under exactly the same conditions is barely blooming.

Well, the cold season is over here (just a few days around 15º C last months) you know how hot is Yucatan. Do you grow tricolor in Bangkok? Mérida is a hot as Bangkok (I was checking it) but Bangkok is more humid. You that know Mérida, can tell me some advices to consider about growing vandas here.

Well the summer is over and this plant didn't bloom again. I had a great vanda season (I posted a thread on July) with other plants but I was waiting that maybe, as smweaver wrote, if it is a merrillii one, this last summer could have bloomed. The plant is gorgeous and is getting bigger, the last year keiki is growing great* and it seems that a green tip is sprouting from the mother plant base, yes!!! a keiki!!

So well, I will wait patiently...

*It seems that vandas grow and are stretching leaves too fast here!!! This keiki from last year after I think more or less 16 months now has 14 inches leaf span with 6 leaves. Is it normal? Is it a vigorous grower? I will take a pic to show it. I bought some vanda seedlings so I will do a record about this that really intrigues me. Last year I started growing vandas so I don´t know what is normal .

Hello! Vanda tricolor is actually found in the area I grow my orchids.

They are not lowland plants, they live in high plateau. My place is about 800 meters above sea level and temperature about 18-22 degrees Celsius.

My friend who grows Vanda tricolor in lowland Jakarta said that it wouldn't produce flowers for several years after it was moved from the highland even though they flowered before, but it will eventually flowers. My friend said usually the non flowering period is about 3 years (she has quite a few V. tricolor from West, Central, East Java and Bali) but during that time they will continue to grow as if nothing wrong

THANK VERY MUCH!!! Fantastic information. The best is the line "but it will eventually flowers", so I have a hope .

As I wrote previously the plant grows very well. Here I attach pics taken today showing the keiki that sprouted in 2013 and another pic showing the green tip = another keiki.
