Rhynchostylis gigantea
This is my favorite Rhynchostylis gigantea for it's faithful, annual blooming and delightful fragrance. Tonight I'm going to bring it to Show and Tell at our society meeting. It's one of the rare times when one of my blooming orchids doesn't drop all its flowers the morning of a meeting night. I think they are like my cat - hate riding in the car.

Adorable flowers....you have a lavender spotted foxtail....by looking at the length of the leaves you have at least an 8 year old plant, with robust thick roots....that must be very fragrant....

Thanks, folks, so glad you like it, too. I have a larger gigantea with wine-hued blooms in double spike but the leaves are rather gangly. I much prefer the form of this plant.

Many thanks, Monica and RosieC! It has been in bloom for a month and I'm still enjoying the fragrance.
