hybridization experiences
Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago I bought a Vanda denisoniana (Yellow) and made a reciprocal cross (V. denisoniana pod parent X V. Chao phraya pollen parent, V. denisoniana pollen parent X V. Chao phraya pod parent) with Vanda Chao Phraya Velvet (Purple) which happened to be in flower.
At the moment I have 3 seed pods developing on the V.Chao Phraya and 2 on the V. denisoniana.
Does anyone have any of such hybridizing experiences to share? For example, how long does the pods take to mature, how to know if the pod is mature for harvesting and how long does it take for the seeds to germinate in the AVA horticultural labs? I am also interested to know what would be the resultant coloration for the progeny with purple and yellow parents.
Thank you.
Eugene
