Ascda Princess Mikasa 'Sapphire'
I got this plant, I believe, last May 2013. The plant arrived with nearly no roots and it looked thirsty and weak. I contacted the vendor and was told to toss it but that they would only replace it with a new plant if I paid shipping. That made me mad. I'm not looking for free things but give me a break, you sent a junk plant! Anyway, I just got my money back and haven't ordered from them since. However, I didn't want to give up on this plant. It is not as blue as I had hoped. My larger true vanda is blue compared to this purple but hey, this plant was near death and I got it to spike... How, I'll never know. I really didn't treat it all that well.
I apologize for the small pic... Tapatalk app was upgraded and OB has an old forum plugin.
Anyway, here's to all of us growers who refuse to give up on a plant!

That is a really good success story, Ryan. I am a rescuer of orchids too. There is nothing more satisfying than to get a plant back to health and even blooming. The flower is beautiful!

Glad it survived for you. Looking good!
By the way, the picture's not that small on my PC. It does look like it's probably low resolution, but it's not showing small

My "success" growing Neofinetia has emboldened me to buy a V. coerulea and another hybrid with V. coerulea parent. Both are doing well. In my experience with these two plants, they take up more space and require more attention than Neofinetia. When I saw your plant, Ryan, and read about your success with this one, I'm even more encouraged to grow these in conditions you described. I'm getting this plant, ordered it from a vendor in Hawaii. But due to my freakish cold weather, it is not arriving until end of January.
Yes, count me in the Vanda fanatic group <s>.
