Default Rhynchostylis gigantea 'Peach'

This is a peach colored Rhynchostylis gigantea. The plant is growing in a 4-inch clay pot with charcoal chips as the media. I obtained this plant a couple of years ago from Kodama Orchid Nursery in Waianae, Hawaii. Others have bloomed this mericlone with different shades of orange.

Beautiful! I'm trying to rescue a gigantea orange seedling that my neighbour has been trying to grow in vase culture. She had it on a north windowsill, and when I picked it up, the jar felt very cold. I now have it in my warm studio which has a good grow light. It also has marks on it's leaves that look like burns.

Hi Vanda lover. I'm not familiar with indoor culture. Rhynchostylis love a lot of sunlight. Hope you're able to nurse your neighbor's plant back to a healthy, blooming plant. The nice thing about the peach/orange gigantea is that they tend to be compact and not a very large plant.

That's nice to know. If I'm not successful with this one, I may try another some day, and space is a problem with a big plant. I have my plants outdoors in the summer for maximum light, but I also have my grow lights for the winter.
