I carried this back in spike from the nursery 2 weeks ago.

2 weeks later is now and nearly all buds are opened.

Very nice. Obviously you have the climate for it, too!

I have always been a fan of this hybrid. Lovely blooms, with good shape and colour! Although this one doesn't seem as deep in colour for a Black as some I have seen or my own.

I agree with the color comments. "Black" is normally deep, deep maroon, looking black. This one is more like an RD blue form of which there are many.

Gorgeous flowers with lovely deep dark blue color....I noticed some darkening of the base of the leaves=maybe spray it with physan20 just to rule out any fungi or bacteria infestation....just for your peace of mind=just to be safe.

Ok, I see what you guys mean

I googled a bit and found several RD 'Blue Black' which look very similar to mine.

The RD Black is all deep blackish purple on all 5 petals.

Bud, I can't see anything wrong??
