Vanda Cindy Banks 'Bill's Choice'
Picked up two years ago from a vendor in Florida on Ebay. Was spindly when I got it, not very robust, with several small flowers on a weak inflorescence, but has gradually been increasing in size and the leaves have become thicker and denser. It finally came out with a healthy inflorescence and has been flowering now for about a month, seems to be no where near the end - the flowers are showing great staying power. My nose must be fading because I don't get a strong fragrance although I recall it has a great "grape juice" fragrance normally

You have this growing in a glass vase? Does the vase have a drain hole? Really beautiful healthy plant. Thank you for showing not only flower pictures but the plant and how it is growing. You give me an idea that I might be successful growing the larger Vanda in a vase.

This is a gorgeous orchid! I have one related to it called Arjuna wink.
I also have a couple growing in vases. They don't need drainage. I just soak them once a week with fertilizer and water, drain all the water off and mist them daily.

Growing in vases
Yes, I have 5 different vanda hybrids growing in vases. Otherwise, I have no room during the cooler months to put vanda's in hanging pots, and based upon my experience, vandas don't grow well for me in pots with medium. No holes in the vases, I fill them with water and light concentration of fertilizer once a week, and during the day a spray misting of the roots once in the morning. Very easy upkeep.
Attached are two pictures of the vandas I have blooming now, the Cindy Banks pictured in this posting, and another, a v. Pure's Wax that has been blooming for over a month now, with two inflos. Both have been growing in these vases since I acquired them, the v. Pure's Wax is so happy that it has almost doubled in size since I got it.
