Photo of plant and flowers. Nice species quite adaptable to lower elevations though it grows up in the ranges in the wild at a higher altitude at about 700 metres or sometimes even higher.

How do you grow this one? I have a sarcochilus hartmannii I just cannot seem to be able to make happy. It's alive, but not doing much over the past couple of years.

I have a cross of this & the hartmanii, Sarcochilus fitzhart, that I'm wondering what it's doing. New leaves, losing some lower leaves, tons of roots & some new basal keikis, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna get a spike or not. How do you grow yours? Good growing btw!

Its just growing in a ceramic pot with holes in the side and hanging in the greenhouse quite a shady place with good air movement. Mix i'm using is a fine bark mix. Roots are now quite attached to the pot and the plant well established.

hartmanii is more fussy. I also have difficulty growing it well here and flowering it in the lowlands. Reason being it grows at quite an altitude about 1000 metres and quite exposed rocky areas but with constant fresh cool mountain air which isn't easy to provide here in the lowlands. I have seen both species in the wild. Fitzegeraldii grows at a little lower elevation (generally) sometimes at same elevation though but it is found growing near creeks on rocks with humidity but still a cool and moist environment. Its just an easier to grow and more adaptable to flower here at a lower elevation.
