Here is a mature and quite old hybrid seedling. Really is a big plant; had to extend the wire hanger twice. lol
The older this cross gets the more flowers and spikes it can produce at once. By no means disappointing, and the quality of the flower is easily award quality and has potential for even the coveted FCC if grown well. This particular plant has an indigo blue flower and it is quite difficult to pick it up with flash without manually tinkering with my camera.
It blooms several times a year and the blooms last rather long; this plant is just over 5 feet tall and luckily I have managed to keep most of the very old base leaves which suggests that it is very happy where it is.
Flower count is 25 on this spike and I must mention that these grow quickly and spikes develop and flower very quickly when mature.
FYI, if you can manage to give this guy a lot of diffused light and full morning sun, the spikes will be much stronger and less likely to need much support.

Enjoy!

It's gorgeous! I want one! I don't think I would have room for one that size, though. I have a vasco Roll on red that is just starting to show spikes. I hope it is a good bloomer like yours.

Wow! Totally awesome plant and flowers. Congratulations. As an aside, what is the beautiful purple neighbor hanging next to it? Thank you for sharing.

Well you could get it small and then figure it out later.
I'm glad you like it! Can't wait to see yours.

It was given to me by a friend of mine who is a commercial grower of vandas here in Jamaica.

You have a magnificent display of blooms. You have thick robust roots and the leaves are clean with the right shade of green meaning you are giving it correct light. I am lucky to have bright morning light and goes away from 11am to 3pm and goes back by 4pm to sunset....but I am still envious of your growing Vandas outdoors.

Wow, what a fabulous display!

On a side note: Jamaica was one of my favorite vacations ever. We stayed in a small hotel and reallly got to speak with the local people, as it was a bit off the beaten track. We had heard some really negative things before we went there, but we were fortunate enough to meet some of the kindest people. The best part was we were able to experience the island in a more intimate way.

:biggrin Thanks Bud! The spike could very well be bigger next time too! I love the fact I can grow outside for sure. This is the cherry tree that I have a lot of vandas hung in. They are literally all in bloom and spike now all 20+ of the ones hanging in the tree. I will be traveling so I'm gonna miss some of the new blooms that i have never seen before though.

It truly is a paradise here. I'm glad you got the chance to see the real Jamaica, outside of the misconceptions.
