woot found a vanda spike watering today . I never had a full sized vanda spike for me. This was a bag baby I bought at The Home Depot in april . I was going to take these back after a few months bec the leaves just wouldnt open up and were shriveled. I kept them and they have paid me back so far. The spike is growing fast and maybe in a few months I can show you more
Seeing a spike emerge, especially for the first time, is still a great thrill. I doubt you'll have to wait a few months for flowers. If you maintain warmish temps you should expect flowers within 4-5 weeks, unlike say the Aer. odorata I just posted that took 2 full months to develop.
you know you might be right this spike is growing very fast ..
and thats a huge dendrobium anosmum chatbud...3rd year Ive had it and have 2 canes this time about 3 feet long each...Now that one going to take some time. It didnt bloom last year BEC I continued to water it and I should have let it dry out as it is a seasonal plant. Needs the drying out in the cool weather to bud from what I understand. We see if I can keep from watering it this time around...
