I'm sure most people have probably seen this Mokara somewhere sometime at some place, but it's always been one of my favourites as it's nearly always a double spiker and I've always liked the petal shape and colours.

This particular one of mine is a break away piece when it was damaged, broken, battered and bruised during a cyclone. The other half of it is growing happily in my little vanda bed (which is also in spike). It's also had a bit of leaf damage/drop in the lower stem area but i think i have that under control now thanks to target specific fungicide.

From top to bottom of the roots it's about 7 foot long, my photo's are a little over developed on account of sun glare and me standing on my tippy toes to try and get the shot. I will try and get better shots of it this afternoon or at a later date when both spikes are in their full glory.

The buds on both spikes have only just started to open, each spike usually has about 15 to 20 flowers on each so when fully in flower it's quite good looking (much like myself... )

The full length shot whilst very sun glare effected hopefully gives you some idea on the length. There are about 20 large roots from the main stem and when near the ground turn into a mass of smaller roots.

The tree it's growing up is a deciduous frangipanni (Plumeria).

Anyway...enjoy........ or at least marvel at my poor photography skills...

WOW! You have a magnificent Mokara in bloom. I love the spots and the color and form are gorgeous.
This plant looks like a 5 year old....imagine how large this will be in a couple of years....and Mokaras can grow quite tall as the ceiling of your house.

Lovely flowers and great growing. I used several spikes from this one for a cut flower arrangement; they are very long lasting!

Thanks gents. Yep it's certainly got potential to keep going up and up. I move house in a couple of months, somehow I need to pry it from the tree. Problem is where to put the thing in the new yard. The flowers are very long lasting alright.

Gotta love the Mokaras. I have the same one out front in my garden and she blooms almost constantly with 2/3 spikes. I cut the upper 3/4 off and kept the bottom leafless part in my mulch mound and it grew a nice keiki that was adopted last week. I'm trying to find a white colored Mokara & a nice pink.
