Cos over here we can just go to any of the specialised orchid farms and buy one in any stage of bloom. Prices are all the same w/ vs w/o spike/blooms.

I would say a lot of it is dependent on where you live in the US and how available orchid greenhouses are to you. I live in Michigan where the winters can be long and cold, so most of my orchids I have to ship in from around the country. Since it can be difficult to find certain plants, especially if your not able to go to the greenhouse in person, you take what you can find (good vendors will normally take pictures).

well I don't have the dwarf so I cannot compare with my regular merrilii specie....its only what I read.... you on the other hand, have both so you can inform us of its progress....

Would love to see your merrillii/denisoniana hybrid, I've seen quite a few on eBay and they all look so different. Though, I don't think I've ever seen one I didn't like.
Currently, I have 4 vandas in spike. I believe I would have had many more if it wasn't for my tree falling earlier this summer. I will update on how big the merrillii (dwarf) gets and what the flower pattern is.

I found one in Oz as well referred to as compactum but obviously I am keeping in mind what Bud had to say. I'm seriously thinking about handing over a few $$$ just to see what it turns out like so I'm keen to keep track of how yours does.

Thank you!! I will keep updating on the dwarf form of the V. merrillii, so far it has started a new keiki and the leaf span on it is no where near that of my two regular V. merrillii. If you decide to buy one we could compare.
