Default Vanda vietnamica finally in bloom!!!!

This must be endemic to Vietnam because of its name. This is a newly found genus and specie for it was in 1993that a photo of this orchid was first published by the Orchid Digest. This grows in lowland forest and savannah like woodlands….I give this hot to warm temperature with high humidity outdoors in the fire escape this warm summer months and will be taken indoors in a south facing bright window for winter.
I got this tagged Christensonia vietnamica, but some scientist did the DNA analysis and found it was a Vanda species….
These orchids are best grown hanging in baskets or mounted ….these Vanda requires bright to full sunlight, high humidity/moisture and warm temperatures. If hanging or mounted; the plant must be watered frequently. My plant is in a media mix because my environment tends to be in the dry side due to centralized AC. Weekly weakly fertilizer alternated with seaweed mix and worm tea mix all year round no rest.
I waited for this for so long since the spikes arrived in July….I thought the spikes will open its blooms in August but its first week of September that this orchid decide to bloom. It has a fragrant smell of jasmine and narcissus early evening.

Thank You, Joseia !

I have a very limited space. I make do with what I have. I take my spiking plants indoors= the bugs will eat my flowers.

Thanks, Monika!

you might be surprised even if your plant has six leaves it might already be blooming size....you should always make it a point to ask how old your plant is from sellers and growers....my Euanthe sanderiana keiki had only five leaves when it first bloomed; its good I didn't detach it from its mother....

Finally I get to see a nice up close picture of one of these.....I love it! Great growing; looks very healthy. This by the way is a Natural hybrid not a specie of vanda Bud. Just to clear that up.
I definitely want to get one now though, wasn't sure before.
