I definitely want to get one now though, wasn't sure before.
Thanks for the visit.

* how did you arrive at the conclusion that Vanda vietnamica formerly known as Christensonia vietnamica is a hybrid?
That is news to me....

Scientific Classification :
Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Liliopsida
Order: Asparagales
Family:Orchidaceae
Subfamily: Epidendroideae
Tribe: Vandeae
SubTribe: Aeridinae
Genus: Christensonia
Species: C. vietnamica
Binomial name:
Christensonia vietnamica
Haager 1993

Maybe you can give me the parent hybrid of Vanda vietnamica.…if you say it is a hybrid?

A natural Hybrid is one occurring on its own in nature.
As of now it was moved from the genus christensonia to vanda and vietnamica is the epithet. Those two come together to create this natural hybrid. Now classified as a vanda.

I also know that the RHS is the last bastion to acknowledge anything new in orchid names but as of today I found that Vanda vietnamica is a specie according to RHS...but RHS has been wrong a couple of times before about names of orchids:

The International Orchid Register / RHS Gardening

or else they will capitalize the 'V' on the name vietnamica if it is a hybrid.
maybe you have an article that says it is really a hybrid....lets read it....please show us.

As far as I know this is a natural hybrid....nothing in writing. Just that it only recently has been identified originating out of vietnam. A lot more is left to be said about this orchid.

Well what they are doing now is classifying everything that is a vanda hybrid as a vanda....for instance there is no more ascocenda...they are all now just called vanda. To me it confuses everything...but I suppose they are trying to simplify things.
So ascocenda John de biase is now vanda John de biase for example. among other hybrid crosses with vanda and other non pure vanda in the vandaceous orchids family. smh.
