From day one of seeing a photo of this specie I had to add it to my collection, and was dying for the chance to see and buy one for myself for quite a long time. As luck might have it, when I went to go look at some orchids to see what my grower friend had to offer; he was showing me all of what his dad had grown and left after he had passed away. I mean he had tons of 30+ year old specimen size vandas as wide as the span of my arms and that's well over six feet; massive I tell you. Well turns out one of the ones he inherited from his dad's vanda collection were two massive tessellatas that were of two different shades; one more on the blue/grey spectrum and the other on the olive/brown side. Obviously I couldn't image to even afford buying that specimen but out of nowhere he said, "You like tessellata?" I said definitely, "this blue one really caught my eye!" He just said ok well I will cut you a nice large piece. I don't believe i could have thanked him any more than I did.
Did I mention the fragrance it gave off in his greenhouse?!

Well here it is, I am like a pig in you know what!

Look at the roots! It was so big a division that it was so awkward wiring it into the hanging basket, but it gets the job done so i'm happy. I also got another tessellata cross which he gave to me so next time I see him I'm definitely gonna hug him!
