Aerides Odorata
What can I say, just a gorgeous sight; just a quick glance at these graceful cascading pendant flowers its easy to see why many love this species. The fragrance is phenomenal! Like a lemon pie! Upon closely looking at these flowers you can see why one might love them; they are unusual, colourful dependent on the variety and while they are not large they certainly are plentiful.
I cut this guy from a larger plant mounted in a tree and threw it on the bench in the shade for a couple weeks to allow it to settle then tied it to a stake and put it in the new start-up garden I am setting up at the base of some palms in my front yard. It gets a significant amount of direct sunlight and even some midday direct sunlight as well, but it does enjoy some lovely occasional shading from the swaying palm leaves. Look at the spur on these guys; lovely. Believe me it was a long wait for those spikes to develop, but worth it. How lucky am I to have it produce a dbl spike within just 2 months of setting & staking it.
Enjoy

Wonderful! A double spiker. How gorgeous. I have a yet-to-bloom aerides odorata, not quite blooming size. Hoping to see those gorgeous flowers up close and personal one day. Great growing!!!

I have large specimen plants of the alba variety as well. If you can get it happily flowering it is quite a sight to see hundreds of cascading flowers and lovely fragrances fill the air. I have a aer. flabellata x rhy. coelestis that I can't wait to flower. I am becoming quite fond of these pendant flowering types.

I hate to say it but you have a long wait. These guys don't usually flower at a small size....but they do grow fast so that's the up side. You can have a specimen plant very quickly.

I'm beginning to think you're not a regular hobbyist but an expert commercial grower! LOL

Lool! I am a hobbyist though.
I'm probably the youngest person my orchid society has as a member and they are seemingly trying to groom me for some position of significance or orchid judge...idk....I just humor them.
