Default Vanda Miss Joaquim - need help please

Hi guys
Tomas here. I bought this Vanda Miss Joaquim just few weeks ago from seller in St. Peter's. I wanted to have one Vanda that can be actually on direct sun. He had only one of these for sale, and it wasn't some great strong looking one, but since I was buying more there, I did take it. It had roots attached already to other wooden pot above it, and bottom roots were pretty much dead. I heard it is strong plant and can stand a lot, so I did think it will be just fine. I have it hanging at the spot it gets lot of late afternoon direct sun, beginning around 4pm till evening. I do mist it every day in the morning. It is potted from seller, so i left it in the pot. When looking into it lately, it looks like it is shriveling, please, check the pictures. Is this something normal, or does this indicate luck of water, or something else? I will be glad for any advise, thanks so much guys.

It will be fine. This happens with new cutting; just some shock. Terete vandas are very hardy plants. Reduce any direct midday sunlight to a minimum until its established with some new roots. Some direct sun in the early morning and late afternoon is fine though. I never understand why people sell cuttings of these terete types that arent established as it usually takes some time for it to settle.

It has only direct late afternoon sun, from 4pm till evening, do you think this is fine?
I do mist and water every day. I did see when buying it that that plant is not well established, he had one big above it in huge wooden basket, and I guess this was cutting of it, in small plastic pot with some roots that were attached to that wooden basket above. So of course just the fact he had to remove them from that wooden basket damaged them little, and the plant itself didn't really have enough roots, is probably the cause of this. I hope it will get better soon, I see some new roots starting to appear, and I have it only for less than 3 weeks now:-) Many thanks for advice!

I have seven stems that are three feet long that I bundled. My plant is on S/H method but it has a long tree fern log to anchor the plant and for the fine roots coming out of the base of the leaves to have something to cling on. It is currently in spike so I will post pictures soon....

Thanks Bud, I am having some driftwood pieces on the way, so I was planning to add piece of driftwood alongside for new roots to attach. They should arrive next week:-) The stuff in the pot looks like it is hydroton balls mix.

Hi guys, just wanted to give update, Vanda is not getting better yet but it's not getting any worse also, so I guess it is good sign. I did add some drift woods into the pot so the roots can attach to it, just sharing few more pics:-)

Ironically, your plant doesn't look in bad shape at all. You will be fine.

Thanks, well when I bought it it was not shriveled as it is now, but the seller torn it from the wooden basket the roots were attached to:-) I have another one, much bigger, and that one is just nice full of water, not like this little bugger:-) S I am very happy if you say it does not look bad:-)
