Vanda Pachara Delight No. 2 'pink'
The colors lean towards more lavender base with plum sugar pink veining. I should take pictures in overcast skies to get the correct color tinges= since I had clear crisp bright skies this time of day in Manhattan = it reflects the sunrays on the petals making it brighter than it should be. The flowers are big and getting to be flatter as it is newly opened buds, the bottom largest is about 5 and a half inches in diameter.
I have this in vase culture but the 4 inches bottom is filled with hydroton and water to help moisten the roots but not to rot it; so it is half S/H and half vase culture. I drilled a hole on the glass to let water soak in the clay pellets. I give this plant bright to full sunlight out in the fire escape right now and in winter time it is in a south facing window….electric humidifier with oscillating fans and cool to intermediate temperatures. In the warm summer months I water it frequently but in winter it gets every three day 5 minute soaking plus everyday spritz to moisten roots. I feed this weekly weakly fertilizer of K-Lite and seaweed mix.
Parentage:
Generation 1
1.Vanda Gordon Dillon × Vanda Karulea
Generation 2
1. Vanda Gordon Dillon = Vanda Madame Rattana × Vanda Bangkok Blue
2. Vanda Karulea = Vanda Kapiolea × Vanda coerulea
Generation 3
1. Vanda Kapiolea = Vanda Kapiolani × Vanda coerulea
2.Vanda Madame Rattana = Vanda Sun Tan × Vanda Memoria Madame Pranerm
3.Vanda Bangkok Blue = Vanda Diane Ogawa × Vanda coerulea
*this goes up to seven generations but I am just too exhausted to go on….

Thank You for the visit!
This is a seven year old orchid that is in my care for the past three years.
I don't think this is a new hybrid.

This is really a beautiful cross. I have one of these; well technically i got it for my gf on our anniversary. It really is stunning in full bloom. Ours is still in bloom now actually. But i'm traveling so I am away from Boca Raton right now so no pics. Maybe I can upload the pics i have on my smartphone.
Lovely growing Bud. It truly is a very rich and almost florescent colour in the tessellations of this one. Definitely a plant that I will be caring for to get it awarded, bc i definitely believe this once a special seedling turned mericlone is deserving of it.
