Default V. Ruby Prince

This is a cross between V. Miss Joaquim & V. Tricolor. Its a really elegant looking flower. This is the first time this plants specifically has bloomed for me after about almost 2 years of growth and sending out a keiki that is now 2 feet tall and catching up in size with the mother plant.
Its a semi-terete vanda and has very short leaves; not the usual length one would expect from a semi-terete vanda.
I don't get the impression this kind is very floriferous but maybe after its first flowering this will change. It has more of a terete leaf type flowering; that is, it has quite a short spike with no more that 4 or 5 flowers. Being this is its first flowering I tend to believe that is why it has only3 blooms.
Still I was excited for these to open and the lip is absolutely gorgeous!

Nice bloom!
But is the plant given insufficient water under full sun? The foliage looks wrinkled/shriveled...

Apparently, I read that my country's national flower will only flower at the very top. It will not flower if the plant and roots touch the stake support. I'm trying to find out why.

This is what I mean.

That's how these types tend to grow. I give it sufficient water but leaves tend to be very durable and rugged.

Terete leaf vandas have that growth habit. They tend to flower once they have outgrown their support and are able to sway with the wind.
