There are some Vandas that is tolerant to cold, in fact I have seen pictures of them covered with snow up a tree....but it doesn't mean you need to grow them in a cold environment. Your Vandas were probably grown in a lab then to a greenhouse, so they have been pampered with temperature controlled and regular fertilizer/watering regimen. They are Vandas after all and they will always love warmth. Just follow the culture and you will be fine.
