Gorgeousl! IMHO you would have knocked their socks off at your club meeting! You fertilize every day? May I ask what formula you use?

Yep I fertilize every day. Unless I don't get to because i'm busy and i just quickly water for the second time for the day.
I use a local 20-10-20 fertilizer that is formulated for orchids in the tropics. My vandas seem to love it! I used to use a balanced fertilizer (20-20-20) but a commercial grower & friend of mine said she starting using this new fert and liked it. So far so good. Most if not all my vandas are in bloom, going out of bloom or spiking now.

Thanks for the reply.Mine have been doing well this summer but I think I'll start feeding them a bit more and see if it ups the flower count. Yours is a knockout.

It most certainly will make a difference. I always hear people talking about using a bloom booster/high phosphorus fertilizer to increase flower count & quality but i have never used it with my orchids. Only recently have i used it on one or two vandas that have never flowered for me but that's because i had extra in my sprayer from a job earlier in the day. I honestly think that tons of light and feeding very often is what does it; so long as the plants are settled & well rooted/established.

Thank you again! One more question, if I may. Do you continue to fertilize when your vandas come into bud?

I fertilize throughout. When they are in flower i cut out on the once a week superthrive added to fertilizer. If you curtail fertilizing, it won't hurt though. But fertilizing throughout has had no negative effect on the flowers at all for me. As a matter of fact this dbl spike bloom is still currently in full bloom and no flowers have faded yet. Its really constant hot direct sunlight on flowers or insects that cause most vanda blooms to fade I have found in my case.
